Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team at CV-Library, working on a variety of construction and civil engineering projects. As part of a dynamic team, you will manage the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring cost control and profitability while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tenders for construction and civil engineering projects.
  2. Conduct thorough cost analysis and risk assessments to support informed decision-making.
  3. Manage and monitor project costs from inception to completion, ensuring cost efficiency and effective resource allocation.
  4. Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  5. Provide regular financial reports to project managers and clients, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
  6. Maintain accurate records of all financial aspects of projects, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  7. Collaborate with project teams, offering guidance on commercial matters and contractual issues, to ensure successful project delivery.
  8. Ensure compliance with relevant building regulations, contracts, and health & safety standards, maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the construction and civil engineering sectors, with a strong understanding of cost management and contract negotiation.
  2. Excellent knowledge of contract law, standard forms of contract (e.g., NEC, JCT), and construction regulations, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical context.
  3. Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams, to ensure effective collaboration and project success.
  4. Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as MS Excel, cost estimation, and project management software, to support efficient project delivery.
  5. A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field, with a strong understanding of construction principles and practices.
  6. Full UK driving license, with the ability to travel to project sites as required.
