About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Volunteer Community Lead to join our team at Switchboard. As a key member of our staff team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the charity retains, nurtures, and engages volunteers within Switchboard, and that they create a community of volunteers which reflects the rich diversity of the wider LGBTQIA+ community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a range of in-person and online engagement events throughout the year to foster a sense of community among volunteers.
  • Manage the Pride activations for 2025 and onwards, ensuring a seamless and impactful experience for volunteers and the wider community.
  • Oversee Switchboard's programme of volunteer celebrations, highlighting the achievements and contributions of our volunteers.
  • Develop and implement wellbeing initiatives to support the mental health and wellbeing of our volunteers.
  • Collaborate with key volunteer-led operational teams to ensure a cohesive and effective volunteer experience.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience of organising and producing social and professional events of all shapes and sizes.
  • Strong exposure to EDI initiatives and a natural interest in promoting wellbeing in the workplace.
  • Outstanding people skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with volunteers and stakeholders.
  • A broad understanding of the issues and challenges faced by people from the LGBTQIA+ community, and the ability to appreciate the impact on our volunteers.
  • Ability to manage all in-person events, with some locational flexibility required.
