Job Responsibilities

Core Duties:

  • Complete the two-year training program and engage in studies to achieve the Level 3 Pharmacy Skills and Services qualification, as mandated by the regulatory body.
  • Attend scheduled educational sessions and fulfill all coursework requirements within specified deadlines.
  • Compile a comprehensive portfolio of evidence demonstrating your learning and development.
  • Participate in regular performance reviews and work towards achieving set objectives.
  • Enhance your professional skills through participation in the pharmacy technician rotation program.
  • Dedicate time outside of working hours for study and revision.
  • Adhere to departmental policies, accepted standards of practice, and relevant legislation.

Dispensary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the dispensary services for both inpatients and outpatients, utilizing pharmacy management systems for inventory control and labeling.
  • Prepare medication labels and dispense medications accurately.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels and ensure the quality of medications.
  • Identify and report any stock-related issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records as required.
  • Provide medication information to patients as needed.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to address inquiries from healthcare professionals and the public.

Medicine Information Services:

  • Assist in the provision of medicine information services under the supervision of qualified personnel.
  • Respond to inquiries using various communication methods.
  • Refer inquiries to appropriate sources when necessary.
  • Utilize diverse information resources for research and documentation.

Aseptic Services (if applicable):

  • Support the sterile production unit under the guidance of qualified staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of sterile products and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Document all activities accurately.

Stock Management:

  • Assist in stock control, ordering, and distribution of pharmaceuticals within the pharmacy department.
  • Participate in maintaining adequate stock levels and assist with inventory checks.
  • Support the replenishment of stock throughout the department.

Ward-Based Services:

  • Work under the supervision of senior pharmacy technicians to provide comprehensive medicines management services.

Essential Qualifications:

  • GCSEs in Maths, English, and Science at grade C or above, along with three additional subjects.
  • OR
  • Pharmacy Services QCF Level 2 or equivalent with relevant experience.
  • OR
  • Three A Levels, including a relevant Science subject, and GCSE Maths at grade C or above.
  • OR
  • A degree in Science or Humanities with GCSE Maths at grade C or above.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience in customer service is essential; prior pharmacy experience is desirable.
