Position Summary:

The Technical Services Manager will play a pivotal role in managing a team of seven skilled professionals, including a Technical Services Supervisor, Electricians, Mechanical Engineers, and Fabric Engineers. This position is essential for ensuring the effective operation, upkeep, and ongoing enhancement of all manufacturing equipment and facilities. The focus will be on both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and responsive maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Guide, mentor, and supervise a team of seven, comprising a Technical Services Supervisor, Electricians, Mechanical Engineers, and Fabric Engineers.
  • Design and implement training initiatives to elevate the technical competencies and knowledge of the team.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, offering constructive feedback and establishing clear objectives to foster team success.

Maintenance Oversight:

  • Manage the creation, execution, and tracking of the PPM schedule to ensure minimal production disruption.
  • Coordinate and prioritize responsive maintenance tasks to ensure prompt resolution of equipment and facility issues.
  • Collaborate with production teams to strategically plan and execute maintenance during scheduled downtimes.

Technical Leadership:

  • Offer technical direction and support to the team, assisting with intricate troubleshooting and problem-solving tasks.
  • Stay informed on industry advancements and integrate new technologies or methodologies to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a secure working environment.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives:

  • Champion continuous improvement projects within the technical services team to boost equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Analyze maintenance data and trends to identify areas for process enhancements and cost efficiencies.
  • Lead investigations into the root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.

Reporting & Interdepartmental Communication:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and team productivity to senior management.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, including production, quality, and safety, to ensure alignment on maintenance priorities.
  • Encourage a culture of open communication and collaboration within the team and across departments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a technical services or maintenance management role within a manufacturing context.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to inspire and develop a diverse technical team.
