Band 6 Professional Development Nurse

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Band 6 Professional Development Nurse to join our team at Leeds Children's Hospital. As a key member of our CAT unit, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, triaging and VET, and ensuring patient safety is paramount.
The successful candidate will have significant post-registration experience at staff nurse level or equivalent, with a strong background in working with a wide range of professionals, including medical, nursing, and management colleagues. You will also have experience in audit and standard setting, and be able to demonstrate a positive approach to change, assertiveness, and courage.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient care, including triaging and VET, to ensure patient safety and well-being.
- Work closely with the medical team to coordinate patient care and ensure effective management of the unit.
- Support the Band 7 with day-to-day management of the unit, including attendance management, audits, change management, and leadership.
- Develop and maintain a ward or department's philosophy that has the patient at the centre of compassionate, safe, and quality care delivery.
- Assist with managing the administrative and financial aspects of the ward, supporting the cost-effective use of resources.
- Play a key role in the assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care.
We are looking for a candidate who is compassionate, caring, and able to motivate themselves and others. You will have excellent written and verbal skills, and be able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post. A recognised teaching/assessing qualification is desirable.
As a member of our team, you will be expected to be flexible, adaptable, and able to manage stress in yourself and others. You will also be expected to be up-to-date with local and national nursing agendas, current issues in health and social care, and standards of professional practice.
