About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal/Chief Engineer to join our Bridges and Civils team in Newcastle. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-profile multi-disciplinary projects and frameworks in the local teams and the wider UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver civil and structural design packages and projects for new build highways and rail schemes, renewals schemes, assessment works, and asset management schemes.
  • Support the management of individual design packages and entire projects, including project resourcing and financial control.
  • Work with key clients such as Highways England, Local Authorities, Network Rail, Developers, and major contractors.
  • Develop and agree scopes and manage the internal technical supply chain, including budgets, programme, and quality of deliverables.
  • Lead bids and tenders, with experience of work winning and developing Client relationships.

Requirements

  • BEng/MEng or MSc degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered status and membership of the ICE or IStructE.
  • Experience of working with key clients, design, maintenance, and supervision of structures related projects.
  • Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance, and assessment.
  • Use analytical skills to derive potential solutions to engineering problems and engineering judgement to appraise different options.
  • Ability to oversee the production of and review high-quality design documentation.
  • Experience of grillage, space frame, and finite element analysis software packages.
  • Good understanding of relevant design standards.
