The role of Class 1 Yard Operative entails:
- Maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the entire yard, including identifying and reporting any health and safety concerns.
- Shunting and managing the loading/unloading of trailers, ensuring the security of loads, and complying with site safety regulations.
- Positioning trailers in designated areas in preparation for delivery.
- Utilizing a Counterbalance Forklift for loading and unloading tasks as necessary.
- Coordinating with the Transport Office regarding the vehicles stationed in the yard.
- Conducting local collections and deliveries as required.
- Recording the entry and exit of trailers at the depot.
- Participating in regular training sessions.
Essential qualifications for Class 1 Yard Operative:
- Must hold a valid UK Class 1 CE Licence.
- Possess a current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
- Previous shunting experience is beneficial.
- A Counterbalance licence is preferred, but comprehensive training can be provided.
- Demonstrate a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
- Ability to work under deadlines.
- Exhibit confidence, politeness, and teamwork skills.
- Possess good geographical awareness.
- Due to the nature of the position, candidates must be fit, adaptable, diligent, and self-driven.
