Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Class 1 Shunter to join our team at Gregory Distribution. As a Class 1 Shunter, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within our yard, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shunting and loading/unloading of trailers, ensuring load security and adhering to site safety policies.
  • Moving trailers to be parked in allocated areas ready for delivery.
  • Using a Counterbalance Forklift to load and unload vehicles as required.
  • Liaising with the Transport Office as to what vehicles are parked in the yard.
  • Carry out local collections and deliveries as and when required.
  • Logging of trailers in and out of the depot.
  • Attending regular training sessions.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
  • Hold a current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
  • Previous experience of shunting is advantageous.
  • Counterbalance licence is preferable, but not essential as full training can be given.
  • Be passionate about providing excellent customer service.
  • Working to deadlines.
  • Confident, polite and a team player.
  • Good geographical knowledge.
  • Due to the nature of the role applicants must be fit, flexible, hardworking and self-motivated.

Benefits:

  • Basic salary for Class 1 Shunter is £33,745pa, based on working 48 hours per week.
  • Rest day working paid.
  • £70 every 5 years for HGV Medical.
  • Attendance for CPC paid.
  • Hours of work are Monday – Friday, starting circa 07:00hrs.
