Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our SEND team at a small secondary school in the High Peak area. The successful candidate will work with students aged 11-16 who have Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with their learning and behaviour, working closely with the class teacher to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with numeracy and literacy support, embedding these skills into each lesson.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team, including teachers, teaching assistants, and senior leaders, to promote a safe and supportive environment.
  • Provide individualised support to students, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
Requirements:
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to pay for a new one).
  • Minimum of two professional references.
  • CV with full education and work history.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
  • Experience supporting children with special needs.
