Male Educational Support Specialist for Autism Base

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? Teaching Personnel is in search of a dedicated and thoughtful individual for the position of Educational Support Specialist to assist students with ASD.
In this role, you will engage with students primarily in Key Stages 3 and 4, and potentially Key Stage 5, matching your skills and personality with those of the students to foster a supportive and motivating environment. You may work within an ASD unit alongside a team of committed support staff or provide one-on-one assistance to a student integrated into mainstream classes, all under the guidance of the ASD unit leader.
No prior experience with ASD? Not an issue; Teaching Personnel offers professional development opportunities to prepare you for this rewarding role.
This position is typically full-time, but part-time opportunities may be available for exceptional candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support assigned students with their daily requirements, including academic assistance, behavior management, and life skills development.
- Provide individualized support to students needing extra help with their academic and social growth.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere where students feel valued and heard.
- Contribute to the overall school culture and engage in team meetings and training sessions.
Essential Qualifications:
- Patience and understanding.
- Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant is beneficial but not mandatory; other childcare experiences such as Sports Coaching, Social Work, or Care Work are also valued.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with the ALNCo and fellow Learning Support Assistants.
- A current Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the DBS Update Service.
- Annual registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
