Job Summary

This role is a key member of the GE Aerospace Metal Additive Design team, responsible for the design, method development, and technical maturation of state-of-the-art additively manufactured components. The team collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and excellence in the field.

As a Staff Engineer, you will lead projects focused on the design and testing of next-generation additively manufactured hardware. Your responsibilities will include organizing and collaborating with teams, serving as a hardware owner, and providing technical mentorship to junior engineers. You will be accountable for driving milestone completion, collaborating with the Combustion organization, and building up the Combustor/Hot Structures discipline within the Additive Design Team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Execute mechanical design, analysis, and evaluation of hardware produced using additive manufacturing, adhering to business standards and product/program requirements.
  2. Develop specialized knowledge of additive design and module integration, fostering awareness of market trends and competition.
  3. Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas component design, manufacturing, and program management.
  4. Manage project plans and action plans for executing on component durability, producibility, delivery, and cost objectives.
  5. Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience, leading small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related STEM field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in design engineering.
Desired Characteristics
  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related STEM field from an accredited university.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with experience in influencing and leading small teams.
  • Technical depth in additive manufacturing, with proven experience collaborating with manufacturing counterparts.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Unigraphics NX), GD&T, and with stress analysis software (ANSYS, etc.).
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, with demonstrated project management expertise.
