Senior Town Planner - Leeds

Beach Baker Property Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planner to join their successful Town Planning division in Leeds. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven professional to play a key role in shaping the future development of urban and rural areas across the region.

The Role:

As a Senior Planner, you will lead and manage complex planning projects from inception to completion, providing strategic planning advice to clients and ensuring compliance with local and national planning policies. You will also prepare and submit detailed planning applications, appeals, and development proposals, liaising with local authorities, stakeholders, and clients to negotiate and secure planning permissions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage complex planning projects, ensuring timely completion and client satisfaction.
  2. Provide expert planning advice to clients, ensuring compliance with planning policies and regulations.
  3. Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and development proposals.
  4. Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and clients to negotiate and secure planning permissions.
  5. Conduct site appraisals, feasibility studies, and environmental assessments.
  6. Mentor and support junior planners, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  7. Stay up-to-date with changes in planning legislation and best practices.
Requirements:
  1. A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  2. Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or working towards chartered status.
  3. Proven experience in a senior planning role within a consultancy, local authority, or similar environment.
  4. Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, including relevant legislation and regulations.
  5. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  6. Proficiency in planning software and tools.
