Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Airborne Sensor Operator to join our team. As a key member of our aerial survey operations team, you will be responsible for operating airborne camera and sensing systems, ensuring sensor systems are calibrated, and collaborating with sensor manufacturers and other departments to ensure seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate airborne camera and sensing systems, including Vexcel Eagle, Optech Galaxy, and Leica CityMapper.
  • Ensure sensor systems are calibrated at an operational level at all times in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
  • Liaise with sensor manufacturers regarding maintenance and other issues.
  • Liaise with Air Traffic Control and other departments for flight permissions.
  • Survey mission planning (flight planning).
  • Assist sales with enquiries and quotes.
  • Sensor installation.
  • Liaise with aircraft operators and ensure all necessary permissions, visas, etc. are in place before project commencement.
  • Monitor weather conditions to identify suitable weather windows for data capture.
  • Field testing and calibration of instruments.
  • Assist with LiDAR production and processing.
  • Undertake and assist with LiDAR and ground truthing.
  • Coordinate survey missions to ensure maximum efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to work in the UK and communicate fully in English.
  • An understanding of aerial survey and remote sensing.
  • Organisational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Analytical, numerical, and well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Diplomacy and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A degree in a geographical, remote sensing, or GIS-related discipline.
