Clinical Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Applied Psychologist to join our team at Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our eating disorders service, you will contribute to the delivery of specialist psychological care to clients with complex mental health conditions or learning disabilities.
The successful candidate will be accountable for their own professional practice, providing advice, guidance, and clinical supervision to less experienced colleagues within the designated psychology service and to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Main Responsibilities- Conduct specialist psychological assessments of clients with complex conditions, using appropriate data from various sources.
- Undertake risk assessments and risk management for individual clients, providing specialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
- Develop and implement plans for specialist psychological therapy and/or management of clients' mental health conditions, based on an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based practice.
- Implement a range of specialist psychological therapies for individual clients, carers, families, and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations as required.
- Evaluate therapy options and make decisions about treatment.
- Provide training and clinical supervision to less experienced psychology staff and members of the wider multidisciplinary team.

Person Specification- Post-graduate training in clinical/counselling/forensic psychology, as accredited by the BPS.
- Trained in clinical supervision.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Post-graduate qualification showing evidence of supervised practice in an evidence-based psychological therapeutic model.
- Working with mental health/learning disability clients.
- Experience of CBT, DBT, Psychodynamics, systematic therapy.
- Risk assessment and risk management.
- Social Inclusion agenda.
- The Trust's Quality Improvement System.
- Adapting the evidence base for interventions in mental health for clients with communication difficulties/learning disabilities.
- Providing effective teaching, training, and clinical supervision.
- Identifying, providing, and promoting appropriate interventions/means of support for carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and challenging behaviours.
