About The Role

The Children's Support Worker role involves working with vulnerable children who require emotional and behavioral support, as well as those with learning disabilities and autism. You will need to attend to their practical, physical, and emotional needs, and act as a positive role model. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to help children address their difficulties and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality care and support that meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and cultural needs of children and young people.
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment where children can feel secure and free from harm.
  • Establish positive relationships with young people and offer them unconditional and positive regard.
  • Help young people develop self-control by challenging unacceptable behavior and rewarding positive conduct.
  • Ensure that each young person's care plan is followed and updated as needed to reflect their changing needs.
  • Manage practical matters related to social support, such as cooking, cleaning, and social engagements.
  • Build relationships with young people that they perceive as positive, warm, and rewarding.
  • Provide one-to-one advice, assistance, and support to help young people address past and present difficulties.
  • Offer emotional support during times of difficulty or stress.
Requirements
  • Be over the age of 21.
  • Have 6 months of experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker or a relevant qualification.
  • Be caring, positive, and compassionate.
  • Be well-organized and reliable.
  • Have excellent communication and people skills.
