Job Summary

The University of Glasgow is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to lead a complex, large-scale project involving multiple external partners and stakeholders. As a key member of the project leadership team, you will be responsible for project managing the strategic transformation programme, covering significant changes to the University's ERP and Research Management systems.

Main Responsibilities

1. Design and implement project tracking infrastructure to ensure all workstreams are progressing to plan and any issues are elevated and addressed in a timely manner.
2. Develop and implement the governance and management structure of the project, including funding models, contractual agreements, and Memoranda of Understanding.
3. Provide leadership and direction to project teams involved in workstreams, ensuring alignment to internal and external deadlines and meeting schedules.
4. Design, develop, and manage the information repository for all associated activities, allowing easy identification and access to key project data.
5. Develop and maintain an accurate spend profile for the project, meeting funder requirements, and ensuring partner spend plans and commitments are delivered within budget.
6. Oversee and implement contracts with external consultants and advisors, ensuring timely commissioning and delivery of services.
7. Responsible owner for the risk management framework, implementing processes uniformly adopted across all project activities.
8. Build and maintain a broad range of networks beneficial to the achievement of strategic objectives.
9. Maintain strategic oversight of development, identifying areas where coherence of strategy or strategic operational activities is required.

Requirements

Essential:
1. Ability to demonstrate strategic competencies required for this level of post, acquired through professional knowledge and leadership experience in specialist roles.
2. Knowledge and experience of contractual, financial, HR, and governance issues associated with complex collaborations involving multiple parties and their application to contracts.
3. Experiential knowledge of industry quality standards with regard to project management.
4. Extensive knowledge of specific project management methodologies.

Skills:
1. Excellent project management skills, with evidence of managing diverse and multifaceted projects of significant scale and complexity.
2. Highly developed strategic planning skills, with proven business and financial acumen.
3. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, ability to listen, engage, persuade, and motivate.
4. Highly developed negotiation skills, with evidence of influencing at senior management level.
5. Ability to present complex information in an accessible and engaging way to a range of audiences.
6. Ability to plan and organise own and team workload effectively without direct supervision from senior colleagues.
7. A high level of personal resilience, able to manage competing priorities and ambiguity.
8. Ability to identify and mitigate risks, with sufficient agility to accommodate changes in strategic direction.
9. Proven ability to motivate and develop teams to the highest standards, including effective performance management.

Experience:
1. Experience of building and sustaining positive relationships with a wide range of organisations through a highly collaborative style and approach.
2. Significant experience using project planning software and creating and maintaining schedules of work as an active tool for staff delivering work packages.
3. Proven record of accomplishment in the successful delivery of partnership-based projects/initiatives.
4. Direct experience of working with public and private bodies in the UK or internationally.
5. Experience of developing successful strategic business cases and proposals.
6. Evidence of continuous personal and professional development.

Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of Grade 9, £57,696 - £64,914 per annum.
