Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the Cath Lab Manager and Senior Staff Nurse to ensure the effective operation of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing various cardiac procedures, including diagnostic and interventional tasks.
- Perform essential nursing duties, including scrub, circulatory, and recovery roles during cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Engage with team members to provide evidence-based patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Offer guidance and mentorship to nursing students and junior staff.
- Adapt to shift patterns as required to meet the demands of the Cath Lab service.

Job Duties
- Take ownership of patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation from admission through to discharge.
- Stay informed about advancements in clinical care and assist team members in implementing evidence-based practices.
- Participate in departmental audits and research initiatives, integrating findings into daily practice.
- Adapt practices to meet the evolving demands of the cardiology service in alignment with national policies.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Report incidents to the appropriate personnel and complete necessary documentation.
- Uphold patient confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
- Exhibit professionalism and responsibility in all interactions.
- Ensure patient privacy and dignity are respected at all times.
- Conduct comprehensive patient handovers to ensure continuity of care.
- Verify the readiness of emergency equipment and ensure all tools are functioning correctly.
- Document patient and nursing data accurately, adhering to Trust policies and NMC guidelines.
- Administer medications responsibly, following legal and Trust guidelines.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and stay updated on relevant policies.
- Understand and comply with national legislation, including health and safety regulations.
- Utilize personal protective equipment as necessary to ensure safety.
- Transport patients and items safely, adhering to established protocols.
- Ensure all biomedical interventions are performed safely and documented appropriately.
Qualifications and Experience
- Essential: 1st level registration with NMC.
- Desirable: Degree level education or progress towards it; completion of a mentorship course or equivalent.
- Essential Experience: Minimum of one year post-registration experience in cardiology.
- Desirable Experience: Background in a Cath Lab setting, particularly in interventional or pacing roles.
- Essential Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of current practices within the specialty.
- Desirable Knowledge: Proficiency in computer skills and experience managing patients with cardiac conditions.
