About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmic Specialist to join our team at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust. As a Consultant Ophthalmologist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality ophthalmic care to patients in the Morecambe Bay area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency cover to ophthalmic patients
  • Contribute to the on-call ophthalmic service
  • Deliver high-quality ophthalmic care to patients in clinics and theatres
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff
  • Participate in the development of ophthalmic services and policies
Requirements
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (with license to practice)
  • Certificate of completion in specialist training (CCT) or within 6 months of completion of training at the time of interview
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (or equivalent)
Working Arrangements

You will be based at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, with the opportunity to work across the Morecambe Bay area. The role will involve a mix of clinical and administrative duties, with a requirement to contribute to the on-call ophthalmic service.

  • Knowledge of up-to-date ophthalmic clinical practice
  • Experience of clinical supervision and mentoring
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
