Position Summary

The Lead Finance Strategist will collaborate with the FFB leads for Retail and Property to facilitate critical business decisions and assess the financial implications of strategic initiatives. This role serves as a trusted advisor, dedicated to enhancing business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with stakeholders to comprehend their needs, ensuring accurate representation of information while providing insights into financial management and strategic direction.
  • Analyze data and present findings in a clear, accessible format.
  • Maintain a balance between support and constructive challenge.
  • Possess an analytical and inquisitive approach.
  • Identify risks and opportunities impacting profit before tax (PBT) and ensure these are reflected in financial forecasts.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to grasp the broader context.
  • Deliver insights and analyses that connect financial reports to business strategies.
  • Continuously seek improvements in reporting, business performance, and collaboration.
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process and monthly financial forecasting.
  • Manage project prioritization, including investment evaluations, business case development, and benefit tracking.
  • Work with the Data team to ensure accurate reporting aligns with management accounts and meets business needs.
  • Conduct profitability assessments for stores to drive financial performance.
  • Complete capital expenditure evaluations and establish a process for tracking performance against planned outcomes.
  • Align with the company's social and environmental objectives and advocate for impactful actions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Finance Business Partner, Financial Planning Analyst, or similar role.
  • Experience in dynamic environments, with a comfort in proposing and implementing changes.
  • Familiarity with PowerBI is advantageous.

Business Partnering:

  • Provide financial insights and analyses to stakeholders across the organization to support strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with various departments to enhance reporting, business performance, and financial management.
