Daily Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will gain comprehensive insights into business priorities and operational challenges while actively engaging in various business functions. The Quality team operates on-site in Lisburn, collaborating closely with Engineering, Operations, and Suppliers to ensure the delivery of high-quality products to our global clientele.
The Supplier Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in verifying that components, materials, and products supplied meet established quality benchmarks. This position involves close collaboration with suppliers to define and refine quality standards, assess manufacturing processes through PPAP implementation, and oversee the quality of incoming materials and finished goods. The Supplier Quality Engineer will serve as the primary liaison for supplier-related quality matters within the broader Quality department at the Lisburn facility.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Assessment and Selection Support:
- Perform evaluations and audits of potential suppliers to assess their quality management frameworks, production capabilities, and compliance with industry standards.
- Partner with the procurement team to choose suppliers based on their quality performance, dependability, and cost-effectiveness.
2. Quality System Development:
- Create and uphold quality assurance protocols, policies, and guidelines for supplier assessment, qualification, and oversight.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define quality specifications for materials, components, and finished products, validated through supplier PPAP processes.
3. Supplier Development and Performance Oversight:
- Work in tandem with suppliers to pinpoint areas for enhancement in their manufacturing practices and quality systems.
- Offer guidance and support to suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards and foster continuous improvement initiatives.
- Regularly monitor supplier performance through audits, inspections, and metrics analysis to confirm compliance with quality expectations.
- Implement corrective measures and conduct root cause analysis for any non-conformances or quality challenges identified with suppliers through the SCAR process.
4. Quality Control and Inspection:
- Design and execute incoming material inspection strategies and procedures to guarantee the quality of procured components and materials.
- Collaborate with suppliers to set in-process inspection criteria and ensure compliance with quality standards during production.
- Conduct periodic quality audits of suppliers to validate adherence to specifications, regulations, and quality management system requirements.
5. Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for enhancing processes within the supply chain to improve quality, minimize defects, and boost efficiency.
- Analyze quality data and metrics to uncover trends, patterns, and areas for enhancement.
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions addressing quality concerns.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of supplier quality activities, including inspection reports, audits, non-conformance documentation, and corrective action plans.
- Prepare and deliver regular updates on supplier quality performance and improvement initiatives to Camlin management and stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, complemented by experience in a manufacturing setting.
- In-depth knowledge of quality management systems and quality engineering principles.
- Experience in supplier quality management, supplier development, or supplier auditing.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and quality control methodologies.
- Proficiency in quality tools and techniques, including root cause analysis, statistical process control, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA/PPAP).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering superior quality products.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
The following skills are advantageous but not mandatory:
- Experience in electromechanical systems
- Experience with PCBA
- Auditing certifications
