About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Podiatrist to join our team at Totally, working in a correctional healthcare setting. As a Senior Podiatrist - Offender Health Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing and treating patients with podiatry-related issues, determining clinical diagnoses and treatment plans, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Clinical Caseload: You will be responsible for managing your own clinical caseload, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and treatment.
  • Maintain Professional Standards: You will be expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Comply with PPH Standards: You will be responsible for complying with all Premier Podiatry Healthcare (PPH) standards, policies, and procedures.
Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Professional Accountability: You will be professionally accountable for all aspects of your work, including the management of patients in your care.
  • Clinical Decision Making: You will be responsible for interpreting and analyzing clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate diagnoses and prognoses, recommending the best course of intervention, and developing comprehensive discharge plans.
  • Representation: You will represent Premier externally, communicating with local, regional, and national stakeholders regarding services provided to patients.
  • Comprehensive Assessment: You will undertake comprehensive assessments of patients, including those with complex presentations, using investigative and analytical skills to formulate individualized management and treatment plans.
  • Clinical Responsibility: You will accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, organizing their care effectively and efficiently.
  • Manual Treatment: You will demonstrate highly developed dexterity, coordination, and palpatory senses for assessment and manual treatment of patients.
  • Advice and Instruction: You will provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching, and instruction to patients' relatives and carers, promoting understanding of the aims of Premier and MSK Podiatry.
  • Collaboration: You will communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximize rehabilitation potential and ensure understanding of their condition.
  • Capacity Assessment: You will assess capacity, gain valid informed consent, and work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
  • CPD: You will be an active member of the company's Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program, unless exclusions apply in discussion with the Senior Operations Manager.
Professional Responsibilities:
  • CPD: You will maintain your own clinical professional development, keeping abreast of new trends and developments and incorporating them into your work as necessary.
  • Collaboration: You will communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all colleagues to ensure delivery of a coordinated service.
  • Appraisal and PDP: You will participate in the staff appraisal scheme and Personal Development Plan (PDP).
  • Evidence-Based Practice: You will undertake the measurement and evaluation of your work and current practices through the use of Evidence-Based Practice projects, audits, and outcome measures.
  • Clinical Governance and Risk Management: You will demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management, applying it to work situations.
Organizational Responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for Area of Work: You will be responsible for your area of work, as agreed with the Senior Operations Manager, planning and organizing efficiently and effectively.
  • Patient Management: You will decide priorities for patient management, ensuring that these remain in accordance with best clinical practice.
  • Equipment Management: You will be responsible for equipment used in carrying out Podiatry duties, adhering to company policy and demonstrating competence in its use.
  • Documentation: You will maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date documentation, in line with legal and company requirements, and communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate bodies.
  • Data Collection: You will be actively involved in the monthly collection of appropriate data and statistics.
  • Health and Safety: You will be aware of Health and Safety aspects of your work, implementing policies to improve the safety of your work area and reporting accidents to senior staff.
  • Company Policies and Procedures: You will comply with company policies and procedures, participating in reviewing and updating as necessary, and following general professional guidelines and standards from the Chartered Society of Podiatry and Department of Health.
  • Additional Duties: You will undertake any other duties that may be considered appropriate by the Senior Operations Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Registration: You must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists (SOCAP).
  • Experience: You must have evidence of relevant experience within podiatry, including experience with advanced podiatry such as nail surgery and biomechanics.
