Matron - Inpatient Specialties Leader

About the Role
The Matron will be a strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible and accessible to patients, carers and staff. He/she will have a particular responsibility to support the developments of Clinical Governance and Service Improvement, to modernise patient services and ensure the active involvement of patients and carers in the way services are developed, delivered and evaluated.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide strong clinical leadership within the Services and be highly visible and accessible to patients.
- Be a visible, accessible and authoritative presence in designated clinical areas (e.g. inpatient and outpatient clinics) to provide professional leadership and managerial assistance, advice and support for the public and staff.
- Responsible for nursing/midwifery standards as set out in the Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines, National Service Frameworks, the Trust's strategic objectives, Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and Care Quality Commission Standards within designated clinical areas.
- Promote a quality and safety culture within the directorate that promotes and values achievement in patient safety and quality.
- Improve the patients' experience within designated clinical areas by assuring the highest standards of clinical care and ensuring that patients are treated with dignity and respect through effective line management and professional leadership of the nursing workforce.
