Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at the South African National Blood Service. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in collecting quality safe blood according to specific targets.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Efficient Clinic Operations: Assist in preparing and closing clinics to achieve blood collection targets.
  2. Donor Registration: Ensure that donor registrations are undertaken professionally, accurately, and in a friendly manner.
  3. Donor Suitability Assessment: Undertake Basic Physical Check/Assessment to correctly assess donor suitability for donations.
  4. Phlebotomy Procedures: Ensure that Phlebotomy procedures are undertaken professionally according to Standard Operating Procedures and in a friendly manner.
  5. Administrative Support: Provide general administrative duties to support the blood collection department.
Required Skills
  • Analytical Thinking: Possess analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Customer Service: Demonstrate customer service orientation and relationship building skills.
  • Communication: Possess effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Professional Image: Maintain a professional image and visibility at all times.
Minimum Requirements
  • Registration: Be currently registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
  • CPR Certificate: Hold a current CPR Certificate to be renewed as required.
  • Driver's License: Possess a current valid code 8 or 10 driver's license.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to work on your feet for lengthy periods, carry loads of up to 14kg, and assist with loading and off-loading vehicles and climbing stairs.
