About the Role

This Semi-Skilled Engineering Assistant position offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic workshop environment. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical support to our engineers and technicians, ensuring the smooth operation of our workshop and the delivery of high-quality services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks under the supervision of senior staff, including dismantling, cleaning, and reassembling pump components.
  • Assist with the testing and inspection of pump systems post-repair to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Conduct regular inspections and basic maintenance of workshop equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in the workshop, including handling tools, machinery, and equipment in a safe and responsible manner and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness by ensuring proper storage of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including documentation of parts used and work hours.
  • Support stock control activities, such as receiving parts, cataloguing and organising inventory, and loading/unloading pump systems and components for delivery and installation.

Requirements
  • Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an engineering or mechanical workshop environment, preferably related to pumps, motors, or mechanical systems, with a strong understanding of workshop safety procedures and protocols.
  • Education: A basic technical qualification or relevant mechanical/engineering certification is preferred.
  • Technical skills: Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery and a basic understanding of mechanical systems, with a focus on pumps and motors.
  • Physical fitness: Ability to perform manual labour, using mechanical lifting aids to lift and move heavy components.
