Workplace Overview: Nestled within 2 acres of serene wooded gardens, this privately owned family-run establishment offers breathtaking views of Borrowdale Valley. The venue specializes in traditional British cuisine, utilizing local Lakeland produce, including lamb, game, and fish. Guests can indulge in an extensive wine selection and enjoy afternoon tea in a cozy lounge by the open fire.

Main Responsibilities:

Chef Duties:

  • Maintain optimal conditions for all stock.
  • Ensure all mise-en-place is freshly prepared and timely.
  • Prepare dishes according to established recipes and quantities.
  • Present dishes correctly garnished and on prescribed serving dishes.
  • Keep the kitchen section clean and organized at all times.
  • Provide proper training and guidance to junior cooks and trainees.
  • Communicate any anticipated shortages to the sous chef or head chef promptly.
  • Maintain a professional environment, ensuring no horseplay occurs.
  • Act as sous chef in their absence and manage the kitchen as directed.
  • Participate in training courses and seminars as required.
  • Engage in management studies for future career advancement.

Housekeeping Duties:

  • Maintain cleanliness in all public areas, including the hotel, bar, and restaurants.
  • Ensure all rooms are cleaned to a high standard and report any issues to the relevant department.
  • Collaborate with the team to achieve the highest levels of guest satisfaction.

Essential Qualifications: A willingness and desire to learn; NVQs or equivalent qualifications are advantageous.
