Position Overview

Venesky-Brown is partnering with a prominent global firm in the infrastructure and construction sector, recognized for its steadfast dedication to quality, innovation, and sustainable practices. Their mission to enhance the future has established them as a key player in the industry. They are currently in search of a skilled Construction Section Manager for an upcoming project.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the development of a new high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter station, which is integral to a significant electricity transmission initiative.

This project involves the establishment of a 525kV, 2GW HVDC subsea transmission cable.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

The following qualifications are required:

  • Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or an equivalent NVQ Level
  • CSCS - Academically or Professionally Qualified Person/Supervisory/Manager
  • SSSTS certification

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Proven experience at the Site Engineer level
  • ICE Technician or Incorporated level qualification or equivalent

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Effectively communicating with all stakeholders, including site management, technical experts, commercial personnel, planners, engineers, supervisory staff, operatives, suppliers, and client representatives.
  • Upholding high standards of health and safety practices.
  • Promoting environmental awareness and responsible behavior.
  • Ensuring quality delivery through meticulous planning and execution.
  • Leading, supervising, and mentoring engineering staff on-site.
  • Monitoring and documenting progress against the established program and construction methodologies.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with clients, designers, suppliers, and other parties involved.
  • Ensuring that all drawings and specifications are comprehensive and accurate prior to the commencement of work.
  • Requesting any necessary information in a timely manner to adhere to project timelines.
  • Confirming that all works are accurately set out before initiation.
  • Documenting any verbal instructions received from clients or designers on the same day.
  • Maintaining thorough records of resources utilized on all tasks.
  • Implementing Inspection and Test Plans and checklists at the appropriate stages of the project.
  • Completing daily logs and ensuring that others under your supervision do the same.
  • Preparing forward-looking programs in collaboration with supervisory staff, aligned with the overall site schedule.
  • Tracking and reporting progress against these forward-looking programs.
  • Ensuring that risk assessments and method statements are prepared before work begins.
  • Confirming that COSHH assessments are conducted for materials used and that all requirements are adhered to.
  • Identifying and documenting any changes to the scope of work or schedule.
  • Ensuring that testing and sampling of materials are performed as specified.
  • Documenting and addressing any non-conformances and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Ensuring that materials and workmanship meet the required specifications and maintaining appropriate documentation.
  • Keeping work records in accordance with project requirements.
  • Conducting performance and development reviews as required and following up on identified development activities.
  • Contributing to the commercial forecasting and reporting for your section of work.
  • Maintaining comprehensive records of all resources used on additional tasks and submitting them for approval promptly.
  • Completing safety observation cards for any unsafe practices or environmental concerns observed.
  • Producing waste reconciliation reports for materials delivered within your section and comparing them with tender allowances.
  • Participating in daily safety briefings and toolbox talks.
