Research Fellow/RA in Urban Ecosystems and Green Infrastructure

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Assistant to contribute to the Defragmenting the Fragmented Urban Landscape (DEFRAG) project.
The successful candidate will work closely with academics at Cranfield University and project partners to investigate green infrastructure implementation opportunities and constraints, and develop a vision and roadmap for future green infrastructure implementation in the study areas.
The role involves semi-structured interviews with local urban planners, infrastructure operators, and national level organisations, mixed methods surveys, and surveys and experiments testing the application of behavioural interventions in overcoming barriers to green infrastructure interventions.
The successful candidate will also support the development of an integrated modelling of fragmented urban landscapes, including working with data scientists at the Alan Turing Institute to develop, validate, and evaluate models of social acceptance and alternative green infrastructure intervention scenarios.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct semi-structured interviews with local urban planners, infrastructure operators, and national level organisations
- Design and implement mixed methods surveys to quantify gaps between decision-makers and residents' perceptions of acceptance/resistance to green infrastructure
- Develop and test behavioural interventions to overcome barriers to green infrastructure interventions
- Support the development of an integrated modelling of fragmented urban landscapes
Requirements:
- PhD in Environmental Social Sciences, Green Infrastructure, or a related field
- Experience in mixed methods social science approaches, multi-disciplinary research, and stakeholder engagement
- Excellent interpersonal and teamworking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
