Fluid Dynamics Researcher for Space Applications

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research within the Centre for Propulsion and Thermal Power Engineering at Cranfield Air and Space Propulsion Institute. You will be part of a team focused on developing innovative launch pad designs with a specific emphasis on reducing acoustic signatures during launches.
Your role will involve utilizing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling to analyze and propose design features that minimize noise pollution. This research will contribute to the advancement of space exploration technologies and sustainable launch practices.
About You
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a PhD (or nearing completion) in Aerospace Engineering or a related field. You should possess demonstrable experience and achievements in:
- Space system design
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
- Aero-thermodynamics of power and propulsion systems
- Heat and mass transfer
- Thermo-fluid systems simulation and programming
Experience in acoustics and multi-phase simulations would be a significant asset. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be involved in project deliverables, presentations, and collaborative workshops.
