Position Overview

The Lead Critical Care Transfer Specialist will take charge of the design, implementation, and evaluation of educational initiatives within the Retrieve service. This role is integral to the clinical team, ensuring the provision of specialized care for the transfer of critically ill adults. The individual will also be expected to enhance their clinical expertise while assisting the leadership team with daily operational management.

As a skilled practitioner within the Retrieve service, the Lead Specialist will exhibit advanced clinical knowledge and skills, serving as a professional role model and mentor. This position emphasizes the importance of continuous professional development and the integration of clinical practice with service enhancement. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the leadership team to further advance the service.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Critical Care Transfer Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the educational framework within the Retrieve service, in partnership with the Peninsula Senior Transfer Practitioner for education.
  • Assessing the educational needs of Transfer practitioners, Transfer doctors, and Duty Consultants, and delivering tailored training programs.
  • Leading the organization and execution of both formal and informal specialized educational initiatives.
  • Facilitating the onboarding process for new Transfer Practitioners and staff members.
  • Providing outreach education to external stakeholders and acting as a resource for other clinical areas.

The Lead Specialist will also maintain clinical proficiency, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely critical care transfer services throughout the patient journey, while working within a multi-disciplinary consultant-led team.
