Pearson Lead Assessment Moderator - BTEC Tech Awards - Child Development

Position Overview:

The Lead Assessment Moderator plays a crucial role in upholding the integrity and consistency of the internally assessed components in accordance with the unit specifications and evaluation criteria. This position involves overseeing the development of coursework tasks and ensuring the standardization of moderation practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop coursework tasks and assignments that align with qualification standards, ensuring effective moderation.
  2. Create exemplary work samples with annotations to illustrate the application of assessment criteria.
  3. Oversee the standardization process for moderators, taking corrective action when necessary to maintain quality.
  4. Ensure that all moderators accurately interpret and apply the assessment criteria as outlined by the awarding organization.
  5. Monitor the performance of Assistant Principal Moderators, Team Leaders, and other moderators.
  6. Conduct preparatory and follow-up work with educational centers to support quality assurance.
  7. Participate in the awarding process, providing insights on component performance and recommending mark ranges for grade boundaries.
  8. Submit evaluation reports to the Chief Examiner regarding component performance issues.
  9. Collaborate with the Chief Examiner and other stakeholders to incorporate feedback from previous assessment sessions.
  10. Confirm that materials are prepared for progression to the Quality Panel stage and ensure consensus on assignment wording.
  11. Review assignments to guarantee accuracy and clarity of content.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Qualified teaching status.
  • Experience in teaching the relevant subject and level.
  • Assessment experience at Team Leader level in the applicable qualification.
  • Minimum of one full academic year of teaching experience in the relevant subject area within the last eight years.
  • Two references required to support the application.
  • Proven experience in managing teams and individuals.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to attend essential meetings and events for quality assurance activities.
