Position Summary

This role presents an excellent opportunity to significantly contribute to the provision of policy guidance to various stakeholders within DVLA.

As the Senior HR Policy Advisor, you will oversee the operations of the HR Policy Unit, playing a crucial role in the development, execution, and assessment of policies for both the Department for Transport (DfT) and DVLA. You will proactively lead the formulation of new policies and initiatives, as well as adapt existing policies in response to legislative, governmental, and organizational requirements.

This position allows you to impact DVLA and DfT positively through policy creation, evaluation, and enhancement. The work is diverse and offers the role holder substantial influence across the agency, along with the opportunity to pursue a Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) qualification, a recognized professional benchmark for HR and training professionals across the UK's public, private, and charitable sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Contributing to the scoping, development, execution, and assessment of DfT Group policies.
  • Leading the formulation of new DVLA policies and reviewing existing ones based on business requirements.
  • Translating HR policy into actionable steps via HR Business Partners for implementation by line managers.
  • Evaluating and reviewing policies post-implementation to ensure consistent application and effectiveness.
  • Communicating and securing consensus on new or modified policies among a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serving as a knowledgeable resource on policy and legislation for colleagues within and outside the Policy department.
  • Establishing and nurturing constructive relationships across the HR team, Business Partners, Shared Services, the business, DfT, and external stakeholders.

Additional Information

Experience in offering guidance and recommendations to internal stakeholders, along with the ability to cultivate strong relationships across the organization, is essential.

Strong time management skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities efficiently are crucial. A passion for investigation and a collaborative approach to providing fair and balanced advice will be highly valued.

Given the dynamic nature of the business, vacancies may arise at any time. Therefore, this campaign may establish a reserve list to meet demand, which will be maintained for a period of 12 months.
