About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our Long Marston Operations Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our site, managing the operations workforce, and optimizing resource utilization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage site operations to ensure compliance with local procedures and regulations
- Chair daily and weekly operational meetings to optimize workforce utilization
- Report and communicate operational performance using visual management tools
- Coach and lead the operations workforce to promote best practice and compliance
- Manage the team's professional development through regular one-to-ones and performance development plan discussions
- Carry out site safety inspections and report findings through our Safety Management System
- Optimize resource capability through effective management of our absence/sickness policy
- Support the delivery of a safe operational environment for all staff, contractors, customers, and visitors
- Execute operational activities as directed by the Operations Manager
- Support the delivery of customer service for rolling stock activities, ensuring safe and efficient operations
- Plan all operational activities on site to meet customer requirements and ensure smooth site operations
- Ensure all operational activities are recorded to demonstrate safe practices and provide full traceability of vehicle movements
- Support the business in preparation for planned events, ensuring contractual obligations and expectations are met
- Deputize for the Operations Manager as required
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience in rolling stock shunting operations
- Excellent working knowledge of railway operations from a depot perspective
- Excellent knowledge of safe systems of work for railway depot/yard operations
- Good general understanding of rail traction and safety systems
- Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques is advantageous
