Job Description

Job Title: Project Manager

Location: West Midlands

Job Overview

VINCI Building UK is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead the delivery of building projects up to £30m. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of a £24m transportation interchange project, working closely with the commercial team to ensure project finances are managed effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management

  • Develop and maintain a clear management structure to ensure effective team performance.
  • Assign individual responsibilities and ensure individuals are aware of their roles and expectations.
  • Employ additional resources as required to meet project objectives.
  • Develop individuals through coaching and training to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Manage employee conflict and ensure a positive working environment.

Information Management

  • Manage designers and provide direction for the design manager to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Produce information required schedules and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery.
  • Ensure dissemination of information to relevant parties to maintain effective communication.
  • Understand the implications and value proposition of Building Information Modelling (BIM) within the organisation.
  • Provide management information to the line manager to inform decision-making.

Production

  • Ensure materials, plant, and sub-contractors are procured to meet project targets.
  • Ensure appropriate quality is achieved on the project to meet client expectations.
  • Ensure that the works are undertaken in accordance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation, and the site Health Safety and Environmental Plans.
  • Review Health & Safety and investigate incidents, providing summary and recommendations.
  • Carry out periodic inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain strict adherence to budgetary guidelines, quality, and safety standards.
  • Identify elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims.
  • Mitigate legal issues and defects liability for the business.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project.
  • Decide on solutions to major issues and challenges.

Project Planning

  • Maintain and develop the overall strategy for the project to ensure successful delivery.
  • Develop plans to achieve specific goals and objectives.
  • Ensure that construction activities move according to the predetermined schedule.
  • Monitor the progress of construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with all sub-teams.
  • Review project plans with the Contracts Manager on a monthly basis.
  • Liaise with clients and end-users to ensure their needs are met.
  • Manage client and end-user aspirations to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Resolve queries and complaints in a timely and effective manner.
  • Develop relationships for future winning work.
  • Report on progress, problems, and information requirements to stakeholders.

Administration

  • Ensure project documents are complete and up-to-date.
  • Manage the site secretary/receptionist to ensure effective administrative support.
  • Set up project systems and review to ensure they are functioning effectively.
  • Procure IT requirements to support project delivery.
  • Ensure company procedures are being maintained through internal review.
