Position Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity to become a vital member of our dedicated team within the Radiology Department, focusing on Outpatient Services.

Our operational hours are Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 6 PM, as we strive to deliver exceptional healthcare services to our local community across various specialties.

In this role, you will collaborate with consultants to facilitate specialized clinics and administer treatments and procedures across multiple clinic settings.

You will partner with Healthcare Support Workers to ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care. Please be aware that this position encompasses responsibilities in both the Radiology and Outpatient departments.

Additionally, this role requires adherence to safety protocols, including the use of lead protective gear while working in radiology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold a high standard of patient-centered care in alignment with the policies and procedures of the Trust.
  • Ensure a safe and hygienic working environment.
  • Conduct assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for patients, maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Engage with patients and their families to provide essential information and support.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships among all staff involved in patient care.
  • Adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct.
  • Perform duties across various wards and departments as required by service needs.
  • Take personal responsibility for compliance with infection control standards.

Clinical Skills in Radiology

- Management of medications, including contrast agents - Administration of contrast enemas - Adhering to trust protocols and pre-procedure checks to ensure patient safety - Assisting radiologists and radiographers with biopsies (Ultrasound, X-Ray, and CT guided) including renal, liver, lung, and node biopsies - Supporting various procedures requiring radiological assistance for both outpatient and inpatient lists - Working with both adult and pediatric patients.

Clinical Skills in Outpatients

- Safe administration of medications, including intramuscular injections - Wound care using Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT) for various wounds in vascular and plastic surgery clinics - Conducting patient assessments, including A to E assessments and escalating findings to the appropriate clinician - Competently performing ECGs - Supporting student nurses in achieving their competencies and objectives - Collaborating with the Nurse in Charge to coordinate clinic operations, considering skill mix and staffing.
