Facilities Maintenance Operative

Location: Worcester

Salary: £30,836 – £32,459 per annum

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Operative to become a part of our Facilities team, which consists of 29 members distributed across various locations. This team is dedicated to ensuring that both internal and external services are delivered and managed in accordance with established standards, current legislation, and health and safety regulations. As a Facilities Maintenance Operative, your responsibilities will include performing maintenance and cleaning duties across multiple offices within a single complex, as well as an archive facility. Occasional support at other locations may also be necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Executing cleaning tasks and various minor repairs, including plumbing, door adjustments, lamp replacements, painting, and office furniture maintenance.
  • Conducting inspections of the premises, focusing on heating, cooling, lighting, and alarm systems to ensure optimal functionality. Identifying issues and initiating appropriate resolutions.
  • Carrying out compliance checks, including fire safety and legionella assessments.
  • Managing and ordering supplies such as cleaning products, lamps, and tools.
  • Coordinating contractor access to the premises and overseeing their work to ensure it meets agreed-upon standards.
  • Adhering to the organization's safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment for all.
  • Occasionally serving as the emergency contact outside of regular hours.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in general caretaking and maintenance tasks, including the ability to identify and perform repairs.
  • Practical knowledge of operating hand tools and light machinery.
  • Strong communication skills complemented by excellent customer service abilities.
  • Proficiency in using and updating computerized systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • A valid driving license is essential due to the travel requirements of the role.
