What We Seek:
We are in search of a skilled and experienced Quality Auditor to join our expanding Technical team.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance and driving improvements across all site processes and products, supporting the production of safe and legally compliant goods.
The ideal candidate will uphold and enhance the technical standards established internally, by Hilton Foods, and our retail partners, acting as champions for fostering a Quality Culture throughout the site.
Key Responsibilities as a Quality Auditor include:
- Act as a deputy for the QA Supervisor during their absence.
- Mentor and assist in training key production personnel on food safety protocols.
- Promote food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) across both low-risk and high-risk areas, supporting the listeria management strategy.
- Oversee the setup and programming of Metal Detectors, X-ray machines (where applicable), and checkweighers for both new and existing products, ensuring optimal settings.
- Assist in investigating and gathering data for internal incidents, facilitating thorough risk assessments and preventive measures.
- Support the coding, label management, and verification processes, promptly addressing issues with the relevant departments to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to both factory and product sampling plans, guaranteeing that samples (including water) and swabs are collected as required and accurately recorded in the laboratory system.
- Perform 'Value Adding' GMP, post-hygiene, and compliance audits that reflect both adherence and ongoing improvement across the site.
- Conduct CCP audits and disseminate results to broader teams during DRM meetings.
- Assist in updating and issuing internal specifications and approving new specifications as part of the New Product Development (NPD) process.
- Aid in the revision of production and technical documentation, ensuring that the correct versions are always utilized.
- Participate in the site's HACCP and TACCP teams.
- Support the implementation of customer codes of practice, ensuring that internal processes accurately reflect these standards.
- Ensure compliance with allergen verification and segregation controls/procedures across the site.
- Manage the quarantine of nonconforming stock, both systematically and physically, in accordance with site procedures.
- Issue and authorize concessions when deviations from processes cannot be controlled.
Utilize root cause analysis to prevent deviations from becoming standard practice, ensuring that significant deviations are escalated for approval.
- Assist Quality Management in completing annual validations according to the defined schedule.
- Conduct monthly checks for glass and hard plastic items.
- Perform traceability exercises according to the established schedule.
- Provide necessary documentation to support comprehensive investigations of customer complaints, including process traceability records that identify any corrective and preventive actions taken by the factory.
- Conduct compliance and improvement audits against both BRC and customer codes of practice according to the required schedule.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the Technical/Quality department and the broader business.
- Attend NPD trials and generate reports that highlight insights and potential enhancements for future trials.
Required Experience/Expertise:
- Quality Assurance experience in a fast-paced chilled environment.
- Familiarity with retailer codes of practice.
- Experience in QA systems, including implementation and ongoing enhancement.
