Role Summary
The IT Infrastructure Specialist is tasked with overseeing the operational management, surveillance, and support of the organization's IT infrastructure. This encompasses hardware, software, desktop and shared resources, as well as voice and data networks, including mobile and fixed telephony systems. The specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the ongoing reliability, capacity, and effectiveness of all IT infrastructure components.
Under the guidance of the Head of IT and existing Infrastructure Specialists, this role is responsible for a diverse range of infrastructure business-as-usual (BAU) activities, significantly contributing to the delivery of efficient IT services. Responsibilities include providing technical advice, conducting complex technical investigations, and performing proactive maintenance of essential platforms and hardware.
Key Responsibilities
The IT Infrastructure Specialist should exhibit strong communication skills, as collaboration with both internal and external teams is vital. The role involves interaction with third-party telephony, connectivity, and data center service providers.
The specialist is expected to uphold best practices in all aspects of their duties, serving as a professional role model for colleagues. The organization promotes knowledge sharing within the IT team and encourages the documentation and dissemination of technical expertise in a structured manner.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
- Proven experience in supporting IT infrastructure, including networks, security, and hardware
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to plan and prioritize workload effectively
- Background in operational IT environments
- Experience managing and supporting IP-based telephony systems
- Familiarity with LAN/WAN management
- Experience providing IT support
- Experience delivering IT services in a multi-site organization
- Over 5 years of operational experience in IT infrastructure and services support
