Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Leader to supervise the Andrology section of the Cytopathology department. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day technical activities of the section, providing advanced scientific and technical skills, and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the technical activities of the Andrology section.
  • Provide advanced scientific and technical skills to process and deliver patient material.
  • Undertake routine and complex laboratory work to ensure efficient and organized delivery of the service.
  • Assist in troubleshooting methods and processes, and defining and developing optimum methods.
  • Work independently and/or with other staff to deliver the Andrology service to the required standards.
  • Provide interpretative advice regarding specialist techniques to other laboratory professional groups.
  • Lead a team of staff within the Andrology subdivision and monitor their performance.
  • Train and mentor more junior members of staff as required.
Requirements:
  • Accredited Degree in Biomedical Science.
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Successful attainment of relevant specialist diploma, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Master's degree (MSc) in Biomedical Science, or equivalent level of knowledge.
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge and expertise of Cytology/Andrology.
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Computer literate with good IT skills.
  • Knowledge of departmental policies and protocols.
  • Problem-solving, organizational, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
Working Hours:

Core working hours are 09:00-17:00 Monday-Friday, with rotational out-of-hours shifts on Saturdays/Public Holidays 08:00-12:00.
