Rheumatology Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rheumatology Consultant to join our team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient-centered care, leading on patient safety issues, and achieving a change in practice.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Undertake 5 rheumatology clinics per week, including General Rheumatology, Early Arthritis, and GCA/vasculitis clinics.
- See rheumatology ward referrals, provide advice and guidance to primary care, and support queries arising from the broader rheumatology team.
- Maintain high-quality patient-centered care, shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service, and participation in strategic planning.
- Teach and train within the multidisciplinary service, actively involve in multidisciplinary team meetings, and directorate clinical governance activity.
- Active participation in continuing medical education, with scope to enhance this role with training opportunities in subspecialties, such as Ultrasound or involvement in research.

Person Specification- Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register.
- College Membership (MRCP) or qualification of an equivalent level.
- Postgraduate degree (or equivalent).
- Broad range of experience in Rheumatology.
- Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training, and other colleagues.
- Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion.
- Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice.
- Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
- Evidence engagement with appraisal and revalidation.
