Rheumatology Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Rheumatology to join our team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. As a Consultant in Rheumatology, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient-centered care, leading a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to the development of our rheumatology services.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide expert diagnostic and management advice for patients with rheumatological disorders, including inflammatory arthritis, soft tissue disorders, and connective tissue diseases.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team, including specialist nurses, allied health professionals, and other healthcare staff, to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, including the use of biological therapies, and monitor patient outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of our rheumatology services, including the design and implementation of new clinical pathways and protocols.
- Participate in teaching and training activities, including the supervision of junior doctors and medical students.
- Engage in clinical governance activities, including the identification of errors and the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
Person Specification
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register.
- College Membership (MRCP) or qualification of an equivalent level.
- Broad range of experience in Rheumatology, including experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training, and other colleagues.
- Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion.
- Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice.
