Job Overview

Field Service Engineer (Automation Solutions)

Location: Southampton

We are seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to enhance our team in Southampton. This role involves reporting to the Lead Field Service Engineer and encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting Pre-Contract Site Assessments
  • Installation of Control Systems and Equipment, including:
    • Retrofitting existing control systems.
    • Setting up new wall-mounted control systems.
    • Implementing complete Motor Control Centre (MCC) systems, covering both power and Instrumentation, Control, and Automation (ICA) sections.
    • Installing Low Voltage Distribution Boards (LVDB).
  • Engaging in various commissioning tasks, such as:
    • Configuring Variable Speed Drives (VSD), signal isolators, timers, etc.
    • Setting up flow meters, pressure sensors, temperature sensors, etc.
  • Modifying control systems, including power, starter, and ICA modifications.
  • Preparing Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Site Progress Reports, and other necessary documentation.

Experience with telemetry outstations, such as Serck PX24, Schneider Talus T4e, and Seprol S2000, is advantageous but not mandatory.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A background in industrial electrical installations and assembly.
  • Experience as an Electrical Installation Technician or Engineer.
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in electrical installation.
  • Possession of an ECS card (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 12 months experience in industrial installations.
  • Proficiency in onsite fault diagnosis and modification of electrical control systems.
  • Strong client-facing skills with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Self-motivated and diligent work ethic.
