Position Overview

This role is situated within the clinical trials division at The Royal Marsden, where you will collaborate with a dedicated group of Pharmacists, Technicians, and Assistants, all committed to achieving excellence in patient care.

This is a pivotal moment to join our Clinical Trials Department, which is dedicated to delivering high-quality services to both patients and staff. Our state-of-the-art facilities enable us to engage in innovative research and provide cutting-edge treatments, including gene therapy and CAR-T therapies.

Main Responsibilities

The role encompasses various responsibilities within the Clinical Trials team, where you will support senior staff in delivering the clinical trials service. Your duties will include:

  • Maintaining accurate records of prescriptions entering and leaving the department to ensure a clear audit trail.
  • Collaborating closely with the pharmacy clinical trials dispensing team to minimize patient waiting times.
  • Assisting in the coordination of the receipt, storage, and distribution of clinical trial medications.
  • Providing clerical support to senior clinical trials personnel as needed.
  • Ensuring adequate stock levels of medications are maintained, including placing orders to avoid interruptions in treatment.
  • Accurately documenting patient returns and completing necessary forms for medication destruction.

Candidate Profile

Education and Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • GCSE qualifications (Grade A-C in English and Maths) or equivalent functional skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Practice.

Experience

Desirable Criteria

  • Prior experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Familiarity with stock management and ordering processes.
  • Experience in an NHS or healthcare environment.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential Criteria

  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Effective communication skills with both the public and healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
