Position Overview

This opportunity is for a Clinical Engineering Technician to become a vital member of our team, providing essential technical and engineering assistance as part of the Clinical Engineering service within the Trust. The role involves collaborating with fellow technologists and engineers to identify and manage medical devices, perform servicing of medical equipment, execute basic maintenance tasks, and conduct initial troubleshooting.

During the initial six months, the selected candidate will focus on the Medical Equipment Library Service, aiding in the establishment of the service and delivering technical support, maintenance, and servicing for all medical devices overseen by the Library Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of registered devices within the Clinical Engineering database.
  • Provide support for technical, electrical, mechanical, and computer systems associated with medical devices.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities for contracted medical devices in accordance with service requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of the Clinical Engineering team and across all related departments.
  • Be prepared to work off-site as necessary to fulfill service obligations.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in Electrical Engineering, Medical Engineering, or Electronics.
  • Experience working within a clinical engineering service, medical devices, or NHS Trust.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical devices, servicing, and maintenance.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with electrical and electronic servicing principles.
  • Understanding of electro-mechanical systems and general computer systems.
  • Practical experience in medical engineering workshop practices and techniques, including management and maintenance of electro-medical equipment.
  • Evidence of understanding the requirements for working in clinical environments.
  • Experience in the calibration and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience with various models of medical equipment.
