About the Role

Lanxess UK is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Manager to lead the mechanical disciplines at our Trafford Park site.

The primary objective of this role is to implement and further develop maintenance standards and workflows, ensuring compliance with Lanxess regulations, standards, and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Line Management
    • Develop and maintain a high-performing mechanical maintenance team.
    • Ensure continuous improvements in maintenance procedures, workflows, and standards.
    • Manage the introduction and implementation of maintenance standards.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure adherence to process safety and hazard analysis (HAZOP) and process safety compliance.
    • Manage change in relation to technical and engineering facilities.
    • Ensure the mechanical integrity of the plant consistent with corporate and UK legislation and standards.
  • Maintenance and Operations
    • Log, evaluate, and control maintenance key performance indicators (KPI).
    • Take ownership of escalated maintenance issues, carrying out troubleshooting and developing technical solutions.
    • Feed into maintenance and shutdown planning routines.
  • Site Projects
    • Identify, define, and manage small capital plant projects within budget and timeline.
    • Carry out engineering design and specify equipment for small projects and modifications.

About You

We are seeking an experienced people manager with proven engineering and/or maintenance experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or petrochemical plant on either lower or upper tier COMAH sites.

  • Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Detailed knowledge of common regulations and standards
  • Knowledge of current Health, Safety and Environment Legislation and Engineering Standards
  • A good understanding of maintenance processes and experience of plant engineering activity
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems
