About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Catering Supervisor to join our team at Calderdale and Huddersfield Solutions. As a key member of our hospitality and catering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient meals while maintaining strict hygiene practices and adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of catering staff to ensure the efficient preparation and delivery of patient meals.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP principles and Trust policies.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the quality and presentation of patient meals.
- Collaborate with dietitians, ward staff, and ward nutritionists to ensure the smooth running of the service.
- Supervise staff working within the main kitchen, including training and development.
- Manage inventory and ordering of kitchen supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained and goods are correctly stock rotated.
- Record and report food quantities issued, wastage, and additional activity, ensuring accuracy.
- Deal with ward shortfalls and additional meal requests effectively and with a sense of urgency.
- Communicate with managers, colleagues, and peers both verbally and in writing, including team briefs.
- Guide visitors and prospective employees throughout the department, providing necessary information and answering questions.
- Ensure confidentiality of all patient and staff-related matters at all times.
Requirements
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent)
- NVQ or equivalent catering qualification
- Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
- Good knowledge of food safety, kitchen hygiene, and HACCP
- Ability to demonstrate health and safety and manual handling techniques
- High standard of cooking and food presentation skills
- Ability to identify staff training needs and deliver appropriate training
- Understanding of patient meal requirements, including therapeutic diets
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a busy environment

- Dealing with the general public in a professional manner
- Receiving goods inwards and understanding inventory management
