Senior Instrumentation Engineer

Wood is seeking a "Lead Control Systems Engineer" to join our team on a staff-hybrid basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop practical and effective technical solutions to engineering challenges.
- Assess existing and prospective manufacturers for technical expertise and compliance.
- Conduct technical studies on project-related issues and prepare comprehensive reports for technical and management review.
- Evaluate engineering and design proposals for significant projects.
- Review and enhance engineering documentation, including procedures, standards, and specifications (FEED).
- Participate in HAZOP/SIL assessments and demonstrate knowledge of IEC 61511.
- Collaborate with design engineers, operations teams, procurement staff, and other internal stakeholders.
- Engage with clients, suppliers, contractors, and relevant regulatory bodies.

QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Significant experience in instrumentation and control engineering within the oil, gas, or petrochemical sectors.
- Experience with projects in the Middle East is preferred (Gas Plants, Refineries, etc.).
- Proven track record in FEED project execution.
- In-depth understanding of instrumentation and control fundamentals, including flow, level, pressure, temperature, and process analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in instrument selection for process applications.
- Strong knowledge of boiler control, process heater control, and process furnace control as per project requirements.
- Familiarity with materials and selection criteria for inline instrumentation.
- Expertise in electrical systems related to instrumentation, including cabling, wiring methods, grounding, and control circuits, with experience in hazardous area design.
- Comprehensive knowledge of national and international standards, particularly ISA, ANSI, ASME, API, NFPA, and IEC.
- Experience in oil, gas, or petrochemical industries with diverse instrument and control installations, including during plant construction, commissioning, and operations.
- Familiarity with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), with experience in Foundation Fieldbus.
- Experience with project vendor's PCS (Project Control System) and FAT (Final Acceptance Test).
- Proficient in office and technical software applications.
- Strong command of English, both written and verbal.
