We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Principal Consultant specializing in sustainability and climate change. You will collaborate with our dynamic team across the UK, contributing to the development and execution of a portfolio of innovative and intricate projects.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with client teams to pinpoint opportunities for sustainable design and initiatives aimed at reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions, which includes facilitating project workshops and participating in meetings.
  • Coordinate various technical disciplines to ensure the early and effective integration of climate change considerations within Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
  • Identify key areas for influencing decision-makers to drive improvements and highlight value drivers.
  • Produce high-quality reports on energy, sustainability, and climate change to advise clients and project teams, supporting planning and EIA submissions.
  • Manage data effectively by establishing and maintaining project databases and calculation sheets.
  • Engage in relevant external expert forums to promote and standardize the quantification of environmental sustainability performance.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members on relevant workstreams and project management tasks.
  • Participate in regional business development initiatives and sales activities.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant degree, such as BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons), or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: environmental planning, EIA, climate change, Development Consent Orders (DCO), town planning, urban design, placemaking, or public realm development.
  • Proven experience as a project leader in a similar capacity.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental impact assessments (EIA), with a focus on delivering sustainability and climate change expertise in Environmental Statements, facilitating new developments for clients.
  • Additional desirable attributes include:
  • Chartership or membership in relevant professional institutions (e.g., RITP, RIBA, EI, IEMA, IEEM).
  • Experience contributing to an EIA for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) or Developments of National Significance (DNS).
  • Experience in pre-application public consultations and stakeholder engagement.
