POSITION OVERVIEW

An excellent opportunity awaits for a motivated Technical Project Coordinator to become part of our Proposal Services team, fostering professional growth in a dynamic and supportive atmosphere.

Reporting directly to the Proposal Services Manager, you will integrate into the Proposal Services division within the Downstream (DN) Sales department, delivering a cohesive technical and commercial service for the organization.

Your primary responsibility will be to lead and orchestrate the technical proposals for projects, typically valued between £2-30m, collaborating with an in-house team of engineers to ensure all project goals are achieved.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the execution of project bids, including the creation of technical proposals utilizing both personal expertise and the support of a multidisciplinary engineering team, in conjunction with the sales manager and other offices.
  • Collaborate with the Proposal Services manager and Technical/Bid Leaders to ensure timely submission of technical documentation.
  • Contribute to the development of standard and customized technical solutions, taking into account bidding costs, supply expenses, and quality considerations while adhering to bid timelines.
  • Track and report on internal timelines prior to project initiation.
  • Support the coordination of engineering man-hour and/or merchant account budgets for pre-project bids.
  • Engage with suppliers to identify the most cost-effective solutions for purchased systems and equipment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to facilitate a successful bidding process and secure future business opportunities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Some background in a technical role, preferably within the metals sector, along with knowledge of Technical Sales.
  • Experience in engineering design throughout the project lifecycle, from sales to installation and commissioning.
  • Proven ability to assist in decision-making processes related to proposals.
  • A pragmatic approach to problem-solving with a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Strong communication skills to address both technical and non-technical matters.
  • Proficiency in engineering design tools.
  • Understanding of Project Management, Planning, Procurement, Sales, and R&D disciplines.
  • Awareness of current industry developments and competitor activities.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D engineering design software.
  • Competence in IT and business system tools.

EDUCATIONAL & PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Relevant technical qualifications should encompass a blend of academic, vocational, and practical experience.

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

This role involves collaboration with other Primetals offices or subcontractors, potentially overseas, necessitating a valid UK Driving License and the right to live and work in the UK, with the ability to travel internationally without restrictions.

Exposure to diverse cultures is desirable, fostering sensitivity towards varying cultural perspectives and experience in multinational environments.
