Job Summary:
The Pension Scheme Manager will support the Head of Pensions in overseeing and controlling the Group's pension schemes, including three major defined benefit schemes and a large group-wide defined contribution master trust.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day pension management and review the administration of funds in conjunction with Trustees
- Develop pensions policies and pension and benefits packages
- Project Manage the closure of pension schemes
- Support and action bulk transfers of pension schemes
- Review, discuss and agree fund strategy and structure with the company board, investment managers and other advisers
- Ensure that schemes operate effectively and meet performance, quality and customer care targets, as well as complying with industry standards
- Keep up to date with current statutory regulations and monitor changes in the legal situation for pensions providers and developments in pension provision to ensure the optimum performance of the fund
- Develop communication strategies to promote the benefits of pension schemes
- Manage the relationship between the employer and trustees
- Meet with and encourage communication between actuaries, fund managers, solicitors and consultants
- Advise the company on new and emerging financial issues
- Monitor pension scheme deficits and prepare relevant reports
- Raise company-wide awareness of pensions-related matters
- Contribute to annual and other financial reports
Requirements:
- Extensive experience working within pension management
- Experience developing pensions policies and redesigning pension and benefits packages
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks related to pension schemes
- Experience reviewing, discussing and agreeing on fund strategies and structure with relevant stakeholders
- Actuarial Experience
- Experience actioning Corporate Actions / Closure of pensions / bulk transfers between different pension schemes
- Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure
- Experience dealing with complex pension claims
- Experience advising on financial issues
- Experience monitoring pension scheme deficits and preparing relevant reports
