Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paediatric Nurse to join our team at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital. As a Paediatric Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to children and young people who attend our Emergency Department with serious illness or injury.

The department has an 8-bedded resuscitation area and 43 major cubicles, with a separate Paediatric ED. We have a new, state-of-the-art staff facility with access to a shower, staff room, education room, and wellbeing retreat for all staff.

Main Duties of the Job

As a Paediatric Nurse, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Caring for children and young people in our Emergency Department
  • Initial and secondary assessment of patients
  • Treatment of minor/major illness and injury/trauma
  • Listening to the Voice of the Child
  • Safeguarding of children and young people

Person Specification

We are looking for a Paediatric Nurse who has:

  • 1st level Registered Paediatric Nurse qualification
  • High standards of accuracy, literacy, and numeracy skills
  • Ability to manage care for a group of patients and prioritise workload
  • Confident at dealing with people over the telephone and face-to-face
  • Ability to understand, absorb, and comply with detailed procedures
Desirable Criteria

We would also like to hear from candidates who have:

  • Post-registration experience
  • Computer skills
  • Advanced Life Support skills
